Baoying Huang 黃寶瑩
Overview
黃寶瑩，1997年生於中國深圳，2019年獲得紐約視覺藝術學院插畫榮譽學士學位，期間獲得多項獎學金，並於2022年取得波士頓大學油畫碩士學位。她的作品曾於香港、紐約、波士頓、布魯塞爾等地展出。目前生活與工作於紐約。
她的創作聚焦於與個人緊密相關的物件。面對日常生活中的境遇與現實中殘酷的無力感，促使黃寶瑩將創作視為「流浪」思緒的容器。那些源自當下記憶的斷裂感，以及對過往歷史產生的抗拒情緒，使繪畫成為她自我整理的方式，亦是她與外部世界和解的過程，充分展現了藝術家內心深處的情感與思想。
Baoying Huang, born in 1997 in Shenzhen, China. She received her BFA from School of Visual Arts, New York in 2019, where she was awarded multiple scholarships. She later received an MFA from Boston University in 2022. Her works have been shown in Hong Kong, New York, Boston, and Brussels. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Huang’s practice focuses on objects closely tied to her personal experiences. Confronted by the daily circumstances of life and the harsh powerlessness of reality, Huang views her work as a vessel for the “nomad” thoughts. The sense of disconnection in present memories, along with the emotional resistance to the past, compels her to use painting as a method of self-reflection. It also serves as a process of reconciliation with the outside world, fully revealing the artist's deep-seated emotions and thoughts.
